Albany County Reads is a non-profit organization that exists to further the literacy of all residents within Albany County by:
- Working with schools, child care professionals, the public library and other organizations dealing with youth to encourage reading.
- Providing books, ideas, and expertise in the area of literacy as well as reading to the residents of Albany County.
- Encouraging reading as a lifelong activity through scheduled activities throughout the year.
- Developing a schedule of volunteers to read to children and work with adult literacy.
- Encouraging residents of Albany County to participate in reading literacy programs sponsored through all agencies.
- Fostering an increased awareness of the importance of literacy and reading in the daily lives of all Albany County residents.
